Welcome to my world!

Hello world! It’s been more than a month since the last time I said I would start writing but better late than never, right? (Drake says never late is better but who cares about drake).

I’ll start by introducing myself and hopefully providing some insight to what this blog can do for YOU! I am a twenty something year old Cuban American woman currently living in the Metro-Detroit are in Ferndale. However, don’t let this sass fool you. I was born in raised in Hialeah, Florida- AGUA, FANGO, y FACTORIA! We’re very prideful people. Hialeah is basically Miami so I’m from Miami ya’ll. Florida State Seminole and University of Detroit Law Alum, I’m a defense attorney by day, go-getter/life-liver by night.

I enjoy cooking, eating, baking, also eating, dancing, pretending to sing, dogs, animals in general, activism, literature, photography, nerdy law stuff, all things hipster, I mean this list can go on. Most importantly, and most likely why you’re here, I love to travel. I travel often, I travel light, and I travel well. Most times I travel on a budget and I make habit of submerging to the cultures that I am being exposed to.

The reason my better half decided I should start a blog as my travel diary is because I travel so often, take some pretty cool photos, and discover things that I wish I knew before I got there. There are plenty of blogs out there with traveling tips and I’m hoping mine will fill in some of the gaps for you. If nothing else, you can see some awesome photos and have a good laugh.

Occasionally, I may rant about my lawyer life, the life of an activist, or a plethora of other topics that I find interesting. Because although I travel often, I do plenty of other things with my time. I am currently on flight to Miami to visit family. It’s been six months since I have been home and this is the longest I’ve been away. Why is that? Well, besides the new administration causing my law practice to get swamped with work, I’ve been traveling. I spent the beginning months in Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, and Chicago and then spent April and May in Thailand, Spain, Morocco, and Portugal. What a trip!

The remaining months of the year I’ll be traveling to NOLA for my very first time! I’ll also visit Greece, Iceland, and backpack South America for the very first time! I’m looking for to it. With that being said, my first post will be about Thailand. Everyone needs to stop what they are doing and go to Thailand like right now. Why? Well, you’ll just have to wait and read. But it’s worth it. Trust me x a million it’s so worth it.

After Thailand, I’ll go into my Euro-trip with my siblings and what a blast we had. We have some amazing photos and some priceless moments to share with all of you. I hope somewhere in between now and Greece I can talk to you about my previous travels. Here are the countries I’ve visited that I hope to share with you as I get into the groove of writing: Cuba (my motherland), El Salvador, Mexico, the Caribbean (Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Bahamas), the EU (France, Italy, Germany, Norway, England, Hungry, Belgium, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, and Switzerland), and finally Morocco.

Next year’s travel itinerary is looking like Maldives, Australia, India, and possibly Denmark. Stay tuned my darlings. This will be fun!

Always in motion, literally and figuratively (get it, get it, I’m an attorney),

Marva!
